The Alumni Association hosted a reception June 25 for alumni scholarship recipients and their families and scholarship donors. Almost $10,000 was awarded to seven 2017 graduates for the Alumni Association, Eddy Birdwell Memorial, Thurman Green Memorial, O.V. McDaniel Memorial, and Class of 1966. Recipients are Luke Coale, Kyle Hummel, Nicole Williamson, Lauren Coffie, Alexander Matchett, Kevin Duong and Katherine Soisson. Recent donations have been received from Betty McAfee ’69; Frances Leist ’66; Doris Bible Whisler ’50 and Wayne Turner ’67.
TOM MUECKE TEAM ROOM
The Wildcat Booster Club has received $5,300 of a $7,000 gofundme project to create a Tom Muecke Team Meeting Room at Angleton High School. The money will be used for tables, chairs, graphics, photos and motivational wall wraps inside and out. Muecke, who was a star athlete for the Wildcats in the early 1980s, passed away in 2016. The Alumni Association has gotten grants this year from Murphy Oil, Allstate and Charles Schwab. We appreciate alumni who take advantage of matching gifts or grant opportunities with their companies to make a donation.
HISTORY CENTER NEWS
Debra Morris ’72 donated 1994 and 1995 fair catalogs and signs and 1976 Sears catalogs; former ECC teacher Jean Britt donated student work; Suzanne Svoboda Thibodeaux ’79 donated a band cookbook; and Carol Gilbert McKinney ’66 donated a UT baseball poster featuring Clayton Stewart.
