SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
The Alumni Association’s annual School Supply Drive will be Wednesday, August 10. All school supplies will be given to AISD to distribute to needy children in the district. With recent floods that devastated many homes, officials are expecting greater needs for children.
Donations may be dropped off at any time or on that day at the History Center. Drive-through donations will be taken from 4 to 7 p.m. on August 10 in the circle drive off Downing. Cash donations will be used to buy supplies. Donations may also be mailed to the Alumni Association.

Kayla Josey ‘11 has been named a new varsity girls’ basketball coach at Brazosport High School.
New Lifetime members are Wanda Simons Craig ’70; Jeff Rab ’81; Pella Thane Vasut ’79; and Michael Harper ’81.

GOOD TIMES REUNION – Alumni from the 1930s up through 1966 will have a combined reunion on Saturday, September 24 at Angleton Junior High honoring the Class of 1946 on their 70th anniversary, the Class of 1956 on their 60th and the Class of 1966 on their 50th. Members of the state champion girls basketball team and the regional finalist baseball team of 1956 will be recognized. (This is the former Old Timers reunion).
CLASS OF 1966 – The Class of 1966 will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Friday, September 23 at Warnecke Hall at the SFA Statue. They will then attend the Good Times reunion on Saturday, Sept. 24.
CLASS of 1967 – The 50th anniversary for the Class of 1967 will be on April 29, 2017 at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds auditorium
CLASS OF 1961 – 55th reunion planned for October, 2016 at Stanger Ranch. Contact Dee Parks Grigsby.
CLASS OF 1971 – The 45th class reunion for 1971 will be held Nov 12 at the Oyster Creek Community Center.
CLASS OF 1976 – Due to construction delays during the flood, the Class of 1976 is having to move their 40th reunion on August 6 from the Oak Plantation Trophy Ranch in Rosharon to the American Legion Hall in Angleton. A reception will be held in the History Center from noon until 2 that afternoon and all former teachers are invited to attend.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
The Alumni Association is working on an event open to all alumni that will feature local “garage bands” of the 1960s and 1970s. Board member Sammy Alsobrook, who is organizing the event, says several bands are eager to perform and he hopes to arrange a venue for Homecoming weekend on Saturday, September 10. Final details will be announced soon.
YEA! NO SCHOOL TODAY!
All former faculty and staff are invited to the History Center on the first day of school on Monday, August 22 from 11 to 1 to meet old friends and co-workers, eat and talk and browse and enjoy a relaxing day. No roll check, no lesson plans, no bells.
DOW AWARDS GRANT
The Dow Chemical Company has awarded the History Center a mini-grant of $1300 to purchase archival supplies and shadow boxes plus a display case for the material the Center has collected on former students who died during war time.
HISTORY CENTER NEWS
The History Center now has tapes of girls basketball games dating back to the 1990s, including the state semifinal games from 2002 and 2003.
The History Center is open every Wednesday from noon until 5 p.m., during class reunions, for special events and programs and by request by calling Linda Winder at 979-864-6650.
