2015 Scholarship Award

Seniors Garrett Hummel, Abby Rankin and Lance McCoy are the recipients of Angleton Alumni Association scholarships this year.

Garrett, son of Kenny Hummel ‘85  and Tonya Woods Hummel ’88, is also the grandson of longtime AISD teachers Frances Hummel and the late Wayne Hummel.  A star baseball player, he was involved as a mentor with PALS throughout school.  He will attend Texas A&M and major in business.

Abby, daughter of Murphy Rankin ’67 and Chere Matt Rankin ’80, will attend Texas A&M and plans to be a special education teacher.  Active in the Student Council, she was in the top 10 percent of her class.

Lance,  the son of Stacey Alexander McCoy ‘84 and Larry McCoy received the scholarship set up in the name of Eleanor Vaughan, Class of 1933.  He has already earned 32 college credits and is ranked tenth in a class of 454.  He plans to study mechanical engineering at Texas A&M and hopes to someday design high-performance vehicles.
