Jason Boley
ANGLETON ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Jason Boley’s goal is to teach and coach and preach. The varsity football letterman received an athletic scholarship to Sterling College in Kansas and another from the Angleton Alumni Association. He is active in church work at Northway Baptist. Presenting the scholarship were AHS Asst. Principal Michelle Doss and AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards.
Cailyn Brown
BROOKE PHILLIPS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Cailyn Brown received the Brooke Phillips Memorial scholarship funded through the 2022 Handbags & Gladrags event sponsored by the Alumni Association. She will go to Texas State to become a pediatric physical therapist. A top ten graduate, she was a member of the softball team that won state. Brooke’s parents, alumni Chaney and Jessica Phillips, created the B.I.G. Love foundation in her name to help families with children who have cancer. Enrique Buentello
O. V. MCDANIEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Enrique Buentello was the recipient of the O.V. McDaniel Memorial Scholarship. This was the 43rd consecutive year for the scholarship to be awarded. Enrique was a four-year member of the swim team and got up at 5:30 every morning to train. He will major in computer science at the University of Houston. Shown are AHS Asst. Issac Dominguez
CHAMBERLAIN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Issac Dominguez was chosen for the Chamberlain Family scholarship handled through the Alumni Association. Issac plans to major in accounting at the University of Houston. MVP for his cross country team, he was ranked in the top 20 of his class of 463 students. Sam Chamberlain ’66 presented the scholarship.
Maddie Drenner
TONY HERFORD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Maddie Drenner was awarded the Tony Herford Memorial Scholarship at an Angleton Alumni reception June 12. Pictured are her father Rick Drenner, Shelly Herford Deisher, Betty Herford, Maddie, Mary Herford Smith, mom Cara Blankenship Drenner, sister Mylie Drenner, grandparents Maggie and John Blankenship and AISD superintendent Phil Edwards. Mykah Frost
DUBOSE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Mykah Frost was presented the third installment of her 2020 DuBose Family Scholarship at the History Center on June 12. The 2020 graduate is a junior majoring in speech pathology at Stephen F. Austin. Presenting the scholarship were AHS Asst. Principal Michelle Doss, Larry DuBose and AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards.
Cade McCall
RAY PEARL CONDRY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Cade McCall, shown with his mother, received the Ray Pearl Condry Memorial scholarship at the Alumni Association presentation. No 6 in his class, he was active in 4-H, FFA, rodeoing and shooting competitions. He will study mechanical engineering at Texas A&M.
Karen Morrow
COLEMAN-LEIST RACHEL LEIST COOK MEMORIAL SCHOLARHIP
Karen Morrow plans to start at Brazosport College with a goal of becoming a physical therapist. Captain of the tennis team, she was also in band and a server at Chili’s. She was the first recipient of the Coleman-Leist Rachel Leist Cook Memorial Scholarship. Presenting the scholarship was Frances Coleman Leist.
Aaron Pardue
MURPHY RANKIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Payton Powell
MILTON AND CECIL NEWTON SCHOLARSHIP
Payten Powell ranked 18 in her class received the Milton and Cecil Newton Scholarship through the Alumni Association and plans to enroll at The University of Texas with plans to become a doctor. Active in cheerleading since she was 3, she was a varsity cheerleader, an NCA All American she was selected to the University of Texas Orange Team Cheer Squad. Her alumni roots include parents James Powell ’99 and Lacey Powell ’01; grandmother Bridgett Bradford Norris ’75, grandfather James Powell ’73, great grandfather Jim Bradford ’53, great great grandparents James Bradford ’32 and Annie Laura Gayle Bradford ’34. Congratulating her are parents Jim and Lacey Powell, grandmother Bridgett Norris and AISD superintendent Phil Edwards.
Sasha Robledo
CLASS OF 1966 SCHOLARSHIP
Sasha Robledo, who plans to become a physical therapist, received the Class of 1966 scholarship presented by class members Sam Chamberlain, Jim McDaniel, Frances Coleman Leist and AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards. Sasha was on the Aristocat Drill Team throughout high school. She will start her studies at Brazosport College.
Kara Shannon
MARVIN AND BETTYE JACOBSON MEMORIAL
Kara Shannon was the recipient of the Marvin and Bettye Jacobson Memorial Scholarship funded by their children Katie, Mary and Eddie through the Alumni Association. Kara will start her studies at Brazosport College and plans to go into the medical field. She was ranked No. 11 in her class and was active in volleyball. Presenting the scholarship were Katie Jacobson Clegg, Supt. Phil Edwards, and Mary Jacobson Wade.
Mason Thomas
CLASS OF 1967 SCHOLARSHIP
Mason Thomas plans to become a software engineer. He was a class
officer, UIL competitor and captain of the tennis team while earning top grades. President of the
A/V Club, he worked the camera at every home football game for four years. He joined the Boy
Scouts in sixth grade and earned his Eagle Scout ranking. Relatives include father Michael
Thomas ’92 and grandmother Beverly Thomas ’72.
Noah Tovar
ROGER RUNKEL MEMORIAL
After interviewing candidates for the Roger Runkel Memorial scholarship, Alumni Association members chose Noah Tovar, an aspiring filmmaker who was active in AHS theatre and the Audio Visual program. He will start at Brazosport College while he works as an apprentice electrician to save money for college. Runkel, from the class of 1957, was on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Kevin Trujillo
ANGLETON ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
Kevin Trujillo, who will major in accounting at The University of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, received an Angleton Alumni Scholarship. He ran cross country and was in track and field. Quite the entrepreneur, he grows and sells dragon fruit plants, is a beekeeper and has learned drywall construction in summer jobs.
