Lauren Ellison ’05 is the new principal for Central Elementary. Former softball coach Cindy Berger Rubio ’92 named full time AISD Associate Athletic Director. ESL teacher Zenia Arambula ’96 named Teacher Making a Difference at Danbury ISD. Anatomy teacher Julie Knight Fitzgerald ’98 named Teacher of the Year at Danbury ISD. Stevi Simpson ’03 named new AHS softball coach. Johnavon Carpio ’22 and Olivia Smith ’23 receiving future educator scholarships from the Gamma Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. Johnavon is a senior at Oral Roberts University and Olivia is a junior at Stephen F. Austin University. University of Texas third baseman Mia Scott ‘21 going pro with Volts in national softball league. Mia hit a grand slam home run to help the Longhorns win the national championship. Former teammate Danieca Coffey ’20 also plays for the Volts. DECONSTRUCTION DOWNING CAMPUS The History Center is closed this summer and fall as AISD will be doing deconstruction on the Downing Road site, removing the gyms, A Building and I Building and walkways around them. The History Center, Pavilion and Administration Building will remain. The Alumni Association will have the Distinguished Educator/Alumni recognition in the CTE Building and the Old Timers Reunion at the Junior High. The Alumni board will meet elsewhere monthly and board members will continue to send out the alumni newsletters and update the website. Contact Bridgett Bradford Norris @ 979-417-3838 Old Timers – Sept 27, 2025 at Angleton Junior High 10-2 OLD TIMERS The annual Old Timers Reunion for former students attending AHS 50 years ago or more will be at Angleton Junior High from 10-2 on Saturday, September 27. The Class of 1975 will be welcomed this year. Classmates are encouraged to donate items for the Alumni Silent Auction that funds scholarships for AHS seniors. Tickets are to be purchased at GoFan.com. SCHOLARSHIPS The Singer family is establishing a scholarship in memory of former Angleton teachers Stanley and Mary Frances Singer. Stanley, who passed away June 5, 2025, spent most of his career teaching math (and life lessons) at the junior high. Mary Frances, who passed away in 2019, was a popular elementary teacher at Westside and Frontier. The scholarship will be administered through the Angleton Alumni Association. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 122, Angleton, 77516 or made online at angletonalumni.org. A memorial celebration for Stanley Singer is being planned for August 16 at The Oaks at Oak Plantation. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the scholarship. DISTINGUISHED EDUCATORS, ALUMNI Committees are now meeting to select 2025 Distinguished Educator and Alumni recipients. They will be honored at a reception at the CTE Building on Saturday, October 4. Family of Dinky Tipton ’45 donated his 1945 football jersey, yearbook, Tattlers, football program and newspaper clippings.
