Georgia Powell, the first AISD school nurse in 1966, was such a colorful figure people still talk about antics such as her hitching a ride on a motorcycle to reach an overturned band bus. The trailblazer was still volunteering until she passed away in 2018.

Two of her former fifth grade students nominated Eugenia McNeill Williams, who spent 32 years teaching in Angleton and retired in 1989.  Both recalled her creative lessons.

Teaching was Mary Frances Singer’s passion and she taught elementary for 33 years, mainly Title I at Westside and Frontier.  Often described as “spunky and sassy” she loved sports and family. She passed away in 2019.
