Class of 1975 – 50th reunion at 7:30 p.m. at American Legion Hall on Sept 27 after the Old Timers Reunion  
OLD TIMERS The annual Old Timers Reunion for former students attending AHS 50 years ago or more will be at Angleton Junior High from 10-2 on Saturday, September 27.  The Class of 1975 will be welcomed this year.      Classmates are encouraged to donate items for the Alumni Silent Auction, including crafts and paintings.  Proceeds from the 2024 auction funded three scholarships for AHS seniors.  Contact chairman Donna Lewis ’68 at donnaslewis565@gmail.com.      

ALUMNI IN THE NEWS     
Monica Magee Kotrla ’89 retiring from Angleton ISD after 30-plus years as a teacher.     
UT softball player Mia Scott ’21 setting a new school record with 223 career runs by April, 2025.     

AISD IN THE NEWS     
SOFTBALL – Girls are district champs and in second round of playoffs.     

SOCCER – Boys advanced to state semifinals.  Coach Frank Echartea named district Coach of Year.  Girls made playoffs for 17th straight year.     

AHS CHOIR – All five choirs made history by earning Sweepstakes in UIL competition     

TEACHERS – AISD has nine paraprofessionals in Grow Our Own program to become certified teachers.     

JUNIOR HIGH – Multicultural Family Night on May 8 with entertainment, displays.     

CULINARY ARTS – Students advanced to finals in a NASA program where they created a pasta dish to be served in space.  

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION      Small handmade Easter baskets were delivered to oldest retired teachers. About 20 board members and friends had lunch at the CTE Bistro and then presented thank-you checks to student groups assisting with the Handbags luncheon – Culinary Arts, Floral Design and JROTC.

DISTINGUISHED EDUCATOR     
Nominations for Distinguished Educators 2025 are now being taken. Forms are available on the Angleton Alumni Association website and at the History Center or those interested can simply send in written nominations to the Alumni Association at PO Box 122 Angleton, 77516.       Nominations may be delivered to the History Center by Wednesday, May 28  or mailed to the Alumni Association by June 13.      

Nominees must be retired AISD educators who worked in the district at least 10 years. An alumni committee will select recipients, who will be honored along with Distinguished Alumni in the fall. Distinguished Alumni are handled through Angleton ISD.  Nomination forms are available on their website.    

SCHOLARSHIPS     
Selections have been made for 19 scholarships to be awarded to Angleton seniors through the Alumni Association by fundraisers or donations from alumni and faculty.   They will be announced at Awards Night May 6.  

DR. NANCY ARNOLD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The fourth annual fundraiser for the Dr. Nancy Arnold scholarship will be held May 9-May 10 at the fairgrounds.  Events include a CBA-sanctioned BBQ cook-off, silent auction, burger sales, live entertainment and more.  Arnold, an AHS teacher and coach, passed away July 12, 2021.  The fundraiser is organized by former students and friends. April, 1994  — Senior David Rouse spends spring break touring Egypt with his grandfather who gave each of his grandchildren a trip as a graduation gift.    
April, 1999 -Prom adds karoke machine, professional comedian   
April, 2001` –  Scores for TAAS Exit exam taken by sophomores show 100 percent passing math, 98 percent passing reading, and 97 percent passing writing    
April, 2025 – Paris-based oil company has massive solar farm near Angleton that generates enough power for 70,000 homes
